OUR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

In tandem with Environmental Responsibility, we at Arcadia Safaris, though we love adventure, feel an equal sense of responsibility towards the protection of the environment. We strongly believe that the beauty outdoors is not an asset that has a price tag and is worth looking after. Our environmental responsibility initiatives are at the core of all our operations; this guides us to create every journey.

As a Company we strive to operate in an Environmentally Sensitive way by doing the following;

1. Partnerships for Conservation

We establish partnerships with local environmental organizations and conservation initiatives in every region we operate. We financially support and actively participate in habitat restoration, reforestation, and wildlife protection activities. Working in close cooperation with local experts allows the creation of long-term conservation outputs that outlast the life cycle of our journey.

We do the environmental conservation and restoration by buying trees for planting in Uganda from National Forestry Authority (NFA). Trees can be added to your bill when booking your tour! and we ensure that you do the planting of that tree personally.

2. Carbon Offsets

Arcadia Safaris is committed to carbon offsetting all the emissions from our activities. In this regard, we invest in verified carbon offset projects that have positive impacts on communities and the environment. We will assume full responsibility for our emission and strive to be carbon-neutral to contribute to international efforts toward fighting climate change.

3. Water use Minimization

While washing / cleaning our tour vehicles we do consider the conservative usage of water. We also request that our guests being conscientious with water use.

4. Waste Minimization

The Arcadia Safaris staff takes branded & reusable water bottles and coffee mugs/ small thermo flasks on the road to minimize the use of disposable cups. So are reusable shopping bags at hand, so as not to take a plastic/polythene bag from the till. We would like our guests to do the same – Arcadia Safaris water bottles, coffee mugs, thermal flasks and shopping bags are all available for FREE throughout the tour! And as well, these can be purchased if needed while on Tour.

5. Wildlife Responsibility

We do not endorse any animal attractions that train or keep wild animals for human amusement. Arcadia Safaris does not recommend or endorse riding, touching, or walking with wild animals. We would much rather recommend the awesome National Parks and game reserves that Uganda has to offer, where tourists can see animals in their natural environment. Hope you support us in this decision!

Please do not hesitate to ask questions about any attraction that may concern you. We will always act on the best information available at any given time and will always have the best interest of the wildlife in mind. As a Fair-trade Tour Operator, Arcadia Safaris is in accordance with the Fair-trade Tourism guidelines for captive wildlife.
